A great way you can save some money when refreshing your windows is by doing your own measurements, this is a fairly simple task that will help when asking for a quoted price from any curtain maker.

Check out our handy guide below:

Before you start, we recommend getting someone who can help you measure your window, especially with long or wide windows. You will also need a step ladder or a ladder and a tape measure.

Step 1:

Firstly you need to measure the width of your window, you do this by measuring the length of the pole or track.

If you have a pole, only measure the length of the pole and not the decorative parts at each end. If you have a track, all you need to do is measure the length of the track.

Step 2:

Secondly, you need to decide what size drop you want on your curtains.

For floor length curtains measure from the pole or track to approximately 1-1.5 cm further than floor-length.

For sill length curtains, measure from the pole or track to either 1-2 cm above the sill or 15 cm below the sill.

Once you are happy with your measurements why not check out our website or give us a call (01706 220020) We have 100’s of fabrics that can be made in any size so you are sure to find the pattern that suits you.
