What Duvet Size is Best?

The Ultimate Duvet Size Guide

There's nothing worse than an ill fitting duvet. Too big and it can look untidy, too small for the bed and it'll leave you exposed on cold nights, and who wants that!

Over recent years the range of mattress sizes has increased enormously.   Gone are the days of four sizes to fit all beds (until the last 15 years or so your choice would have been the standard uk sizes, these being standard single, double, king and super king.)

However in the last few years bed choices have increased dramatically and so in turn so have duvet sizes.  For example the introduction of adjustable beds, that are longer and wider than standard sizes meant that standard sizes we're too short.  Then with the introduction of larger and inbetween sizes, such as small double ( AKA 4ft or three quarter beds) plus emperor and Caesar sizes meant that even the biggest super king duvet was coming up short.

For each of these sizes you should be able to get a duvet that fits.  Standard size duvets can either look to small or can drown the bed with too much coverage.  But we have a range of inbetween size duvets that should suit any size.

Take a look at our duvet size guide below for each size of bed and what size duvet would fit best.

Need to know more about Valances? Read our guide..

When it comes to decorating your bedroom, it's the small details that often make the biggest impact. One often-overlooked element that can transform the look of your bed and the entire room is the valance. Valances come in various styles and materials, each serving a unique purpose. Let's dive into and explore each type in more detail and find which can add that extra touch of charm and elegance to your sleeping sanctuary.

1. Base Valance: The Bed's Foundation

Let's start with the base, quite literally! The base valance is a versatile and functional option designed to cover the divan base of your bed. It's like the foundation of a building, providing a neat and cohesive look to your bed ensemble. This valance extends to the floor on three sides, (making room for the headboard) effectively concealing the base and any under-bed storage.  It creates a seamless and polished appearance. Base valances are available in various colors and materials, making it easy to match them with your bedding and bedroom decor.

2. Valance Sheet: A Fitted Elegance

For those who prefer a more a streamlined appearance combined with ease of use, this fitted valance is an excellent choice. It's a combination of a fitted sheet and a valance, ensuring a snug fit around the mattress while also offering the decorative touch of a traditional valance. A Valance with a fitted sheet is easy to put on and take off, making them a practical option for those who like to change their bedding but might sruggle to move the mattress. We make sheets with valance in an array of fabrics, and colors, allowing you to express your personal style while maintaining a tidy bed aesthetic.

3. Easy Fit Valance: Effortless Elegance

The name says it all – an easy fit valance is the go-to option for those who want to effortlessly enhance the look of their bed. Unlike traditional valances that require lifting the mattress to attach, easy fit valances feature a velcro edge that attaches easily around the bed base, ensuring a snug and secure fit. This makes them a time-saving and user-friendly choice for anyone looking to quickly refresh their bedroom decor. Easy fit valances are available in various materials, from easy care fabrics to crisp cotton, catering to different tastes and preferences.

4. Heavy Fabric Base Valance: Adding Opulence

If you're aiming for a more luxurious and opulent look in your bedroom, a heavy fabric valance is the way to go. Crafted from sumptuous panama material, these valances add a touch of sophistication and grandeur to your sleeping space. The weight and texture of the fabric create a substantial and rich appearance, elevating the overall aesthetic of the bed. Heavy fabric valances often drape gracefully to the floor, enhancing the regal ambiance of your bedroom.

5. Split Corner Valance: Tailored Sophistication

For a tailored and sophisticated look, consider the split corner valance. This type of valance is designed with openings at the corners, allowing it to elegantly drape around bedposts or bed frames. The split corners create a custom and refined appearance, resembling a well-tailored suit for your bed. This style is especially popular in more traditional or formal bedroom settings, where attention to detail and a polished look are paramount.

6. Extra Deep Base Valances and Valance Sheets

Deep divan valances can be made to fit any divan depth, extending gracefully to the floor, offer both style and functionality. With extra depth, they seamlessly conceal under-bed storage or frames, ensuring a polished and organized appearance. Ideal for hiding taller bed structures, these valances contribute to a tidy bedroom aesthetic. Beyond their practical use, valances add a touch of opulence, creating an elegant draping effect that transforms the bed into a luxurious focal point.
