Measure vertically from the top of the mattress to its lowest edge. If you use a mattress topper beneath the protector, include the topper in the complete measurement.

Deep Mattress Protectors for Beds with Toppers
A mattress topper should normally be included when measuring the depth required for your protector. Measure from the top of the topper to the bottom edge of the mattress so that the protector can fit over both layers.
Selecting sufficient depth helps the fitted sides sit around the complete mattress and reduces the likelihood of the elasticated edge pulling free during the night.
