What Is an Easy-Fit Valance?
An easy-fit valance is a removable bed skirt that attaches around the outside of a divan base using Velcro. It conceals the bed base, legs and under-bed storage without requiring a fabric platform underneath the mattress.
Easy-fit valances may also be described as:

These terms describe the same convenient fitting method: the decorative skirt attaches directly to the outside of the bed base and can be removed without moving the mattress.
How Does a Velcro Bed Valance Work?
Sticky-backed Velcro tape is supplied with the valance and fixed around the outside of the bed base. The corresponding fastening on the valance then attaches to the tape, holding the skirt securely in place.
To fit your easy-fit valance:
- Make sure the outside of the bed base is clean and dry.
- Position the supplied sticky-backed Velcro tape around the sides and foot of the base.
- Press the tape firmly into position.
- Attach the valance to the Velcro around the bed.
- Adjust the skirt so that the corners and drop hang evenly.
Once the attachment tape is in position, the fabric valance can be removed and refitted whenever it needs washing or you want to change the appearance of the bed.
No Need to Lift the Mattress
A traditional base or platform valance has a flat fabric section that sits over the bed base and underneath the mattress. Fitting or removing it normally requires the mattress to be lifted.
An easy-fit Velcro valance has no platform underneath the mattress. Instead, it attaches around the outside of the base. This makes it particularly useful for:
- Large or heavy mattresses
- Deep and pillow-top mattresses
- Beds fitted with substantial mattress toppers
- Older customers or anyone who finds mattress lifting difficult

This option is particularly suitable for boutique bedrooms, hotels, interior design projects and customers who want a more substantial decorative finish.
How to Measure for an Easy-Fit Valance
You will need the width and length of the bed base together with the required skirt drop.
- Measure the width of the bed base from side to side.
- Measure the length of the base from the head to the foot.
- Measure vertically from the planned attachment point near the top of the base to the floor.
- Subtract approximately 1–2cm if you want the fabric to finish just above floor level.
Measure the bed base rather than the mattress. The Velcro strip and valance attach directly to the outside of the base.
If the bed is an unusual size or height, provide your exact measurements so that we can make the valance and drop to fit.
Easy-Fit Valances for Adjustable Beds
Velcro-attached valances can be particularly useful on adjustable and electric beds because they do not require a platform underneath a heavy mattress.
