Waterproof Mattress Protectors in the best fabric yet
From our past experience in the bed linen industry we knew that waterproof mattress protectors had been made from a wide range of sub standard materials. if you had the old waterproof variety you may have known it to be noisy and uncomfortable. We found even the more modern cotton or terry towelling backed, plastic protectors had there faults, for instance materials like terry towelling reduced the noise of the circa 1980’s protectors, (think rolling on a crisp packet) but still proved uncomfortable to sleep on.
Why is TENCEL better?
We found that most waterproof and anti allergy mattress protectors have a non permeable barrier (usually a form of plastic) that allows nothing through. While this stops liquids and dust mites, it also stops air movement. This means the air gets warmer and so do you! So how do we get a mattress protector that’s waterproof, anti allergenic and comfortable to sleep on??

Construction
When we did some further research into the fabric we found it was fully machine washable, anti allergenic, more absorbent than cotton and quicker to dry. We also found that the material is sourced naturally from wood pulp. In particular from the Eucalyptus plant. Its eco friendly manufacture also meant all other materials used in the process are biodegradable making its environmental footprint practically nothing.
TENCEL material also contains no pesticides or agricultural chemicals. Along with our own tests we found that other companies and fellow fabric enthusiasts had carried them out. They concluded that the material is waterproof, breathable and incredibly robust. Enough to be guaranteed for 10 years or 200 washes. TENCEL is also noiseless and virtually undetectable when on the mattress or used as a pillow protector. We were so happy with what we found we decided to buy in some rolls of the fabric and start making the mattress protectors ourselves.
