Choosing the right Adjustable Bed

Buying an adjustable bed is a big purchase. Check out our handy guide to help you make the right choice.

If you’re considering buying an adjustable bed it could be for a number of reasons.  Maybe you’ve recently had an operation, been experiencing muscle pains or are just having trouble getting in and out of bed.

For whatever reason you need the bed, don’t just choose the first one you come across.  Adjustable beds can be an expensive purchase so you can’t afford to make careless decisions, they might hit your wallet hard! You have to be smart with your choice and make sure that when it’s choosing time, you end up with the right bed.

To help you make the right choice, here’s a handy guide to help you assess  the bed and make sure its got what you need:

The engine room

Check Out the Base ? To use cars as an example. Smart people know that the insides of the car are equally important, the engine, radiator for example matter more than the outside. The bling-blings of a car wouldn’t amount to much if the engine has a lifespan of three months!

Its the same when it comes to some adjustable beds, it’s the base that houses the machinery that makes your be move. You’re making the right choice if the base of your adjustable bed is manufactured by a well-known, reputable company.  A final tip is to try and get a bed with a sealed motor, these beds are quieter and require less maintenance.

Going up & coming down

How well can it move? First and foremost, choose an adjustable bed that has wheels.  This makes your cleaning regime easy, all you have to do is roll it somewhere and then you’re free to clean the space under and around the bed. Secondly, an adjustable bed with wheels can be easily transported to wherever it has to go, so if you ever move house it’ll make it much easier to get out the door.

Always check on how the bed is assembled.   Is it delivered in parts or fully assembled by the delivery men?  We would always go for an adjustable bed that is already assembled or only requires minimal assembly.  These beds and parts can be heavy and putting them together may be the last thing you need.  Plus, if you make a mistake when putting them together you may invalidate the warranty.  Also, you don’t need the hassle of continually calling technical support whenever something goes wrong.  We would strongly recommend your bed is delivered ready to go, or has a manual that a 10 year old kid can decipher.

Do your research!

I think the general rule here is research.  Make sure you find out about your adjustable bed by searching the internet.  There are some great sites out there who review beds and have some great advice, try mobility shopper for example or even google shopping.
