Anti Allergenic Mattress Protectors – Keeping the Bed Bugs at Bay!

Bed Bugs can be something that may never cross your mind or they may be something that you can’t stop thinking about! Whatever you think they are most certainly something you should at least be aware of when it coes to the cleanliness of your home.

There scientific term is Cimicidae but they are more commonly known as dust mites or bed bugs. Theres no nice way of putting this but these insects are parasitic organisms that feed on the dead skin and blood of warm blooded animals. The term bed bug is probably given as this tends to be the place where the insect is most prelavent in the home, here they have the opportunity to feed and breed here unoticed and if left unchecked bed bug infestations can lead to skin irritations and breathing difficulties.

Control of the bed bug is thankfully not a diffcult task, an effective anti allergenic mattress protector will protect you and the mattress from any type of infestation. More advanced mattress protectors can actually inihibit the growth and reproduction of the bed mite. The bed valance, made for any size of bed.

A bed valance or bed skirt can sometimes be the last item on the average persons shopping list when it comes to dressing the bed, which is a shame because it can be the perfect finish when giving any bedroom a new look makeover. For those who are wondering what I’m talking about the valance goes underneath the mattress, it sits on the base of the bed and covers it to match or contrast with the rest of your bedroom.

Standard size valances are usually available for single, double, king and superking sizes, however your average supermarket bought valance is only made to a specific drop and probably in one style, frilled. New Designer Bedding from English Heritage

English Heritage have launched a new luxury bedding range in association with Christy, a long established UK bed linen and towel supplier. The designs have taken inspiration from the Art Deco era and in particular the intricate and ornate architecture and design of two of the UK’s grandest stately homes.

Down House, Kent, and Eltham Palace, on the outskirts of London, are markedly different properties but both have provided Christy with a wealth of design options. Annie Kemkaran-Smith, Collections Curator for both Eltham Palace and Down House, invited Christy’s designer Rachel Paley to Eltham to explore the Courtaulds’ approach to architecture and interior design. ‘Eltham Palace has so much warmth for such a glamorous house,’ says Rachel. ‘You can sense that the Courtaulds lived life to the full here.’

The resulting Eltham Palace range is contemporary but, above all, authentic. It includes ‘Clarice’, an elegant jacquard weave with a Greek key motif and a luxurious black velvet border and piping.

This evokes Eltham’s dramatic black dining room doors, while the ‘Park Lane’ design takes the same key motif but embroiders it as a panel on the duvet cover and an edging on each pillowcase. Both designs use pure cotton fabric with a high thread count, in shades of charcoal and warm taupe, reflecting Eltham’s marquetry walls and ebonised doors. The Muppets return with a movie and some cushions!!!

The Muppets are soon to be relaunched upon an unsuspecting public over the coming months with an all star movie just around the corner. While the Muppets have had a presence over the years through Sesame Street and a series of (increasingly unsuccessful) movies nothing has compared to there 70’s/80’s heyday where Jim Henson creations wreaked havok in an old music hall over 5 series.

Nothing has been heard from Kermit and crew for a few years but this is all set to change on 12th february 2012 when The Muppets is released in the UK and USA. The film brings back all the old favourites from Fozzie the Bear to the chicken chasing Swedish Chef, Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) has scripted and stars along side Amy Adams (Enchanted) and a list of star cameos that includes Zach Galifianakis, Ricky Gervais, and Emily Blunt. With this in mind Disney has decided to launch some Muppet merchandise upon us in the shape of some character cushions. This initial run has all the Show’s favourites Piggy, Kermit, Fozzie and Animal, cushions come in standard 45 x 45cm sizes of as shaped heads which will look great in any childs (or grown ups) bedroom. The Muppets cushions are available online now and hopefully we’ll be seeing a lot more of these fuzzy friends over the coming months.
