Comfortable Everyday Protection for a Shorty Bed

This quilted protector creates a soft barrier between the mattress and fitted sheet. Its lightly padded surface helps protect the mattress from dust, perspiration, everyday wear and occasional light spills while adding a comfortable layer to the bed.

Unlike a standard small single protector, it is made for shorter mattress dimensions. This prevents unnecessary fabric gathering at the foot of the bed and provides a smoother, more secure fit around all four corners.

Soft Diamond-Quilted Polyester

The protector is made from 100% polyester quilted material. Its stitched diamond pattern helps keep the light padding evenly distributed across the mattress, creating a smooth and comfortable sleeping surface.

The material is quiet when the sleeper moves and sits neatly beneath a fitted sheet without adding excessive bulk or significantly altering the feel of the mattress.

Is This Protector Waterproof?

No. This is a splash-resistant general-purpose mattress protector intended for everyday protection. It can help guard against occasional light spills, perspiration, dust and normal wear, but it does not contain a fully waterproof barrier.

If the bed requires protection against bedwetting, larger spills or regular moisture, our waterproof Shorty mattress protector is the more suitable choice.

Which Shorty Mattress Size Do I Need?

Shorty bed is a general name used for several compact mattress sizes. Many are approximately 2ft 6in or 75–76cm wide, but their lengths can vary.

Common Shorty mattress dimensions include:

• 30 × 60 inches – approximately 76 × 152cm
• 30 × 63 inches – approximately 76 × 160cm
• 30 × 66 inches – approximately 76 × 168cm
• 30 × 69 inches – approximately 76 × 175cm
• 30 × 72 inches – approximately 76 × 183cm

Always measure the mattress itself before ordering, as dimensions can vary between bed manufacturers.

Measure the Mattress Depth

For the best fit, measure the complete width, length and depth of the mattress. Measure the depth vertically from the top surface to the bottom edge, then select the closest suitable option.

If you use a mattress topper, include it in the measurement. Measure from the top of the topper to the bottom edge of the mattress so the protector has enough depth to fit securely underneath.

Shorty Bed or Small Single?

A Shorty bed and a UK small single bed can both be approximately 2ft 6in wide, but they are usually different lengths. A small single mattress is commonly around 190cm long, whereas a Shorty mattress may measure approximately 175cm or less.

A full-length small single protector may therefore leave loose material at the foot of a Shorty bed. Choosing the correct mattress length provides a neater and more secure fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this quilted Shorty mattress protector waterproof?

No. It is splash-resistant and suitable for general everyday protection, but it is not fully waterproof. Choose our waterproof Shorty protector for accidents, significant spills or regular moisture.

What is the protector made from?

It is made from 100% polyester with a soft, lightly padded diamond-quilted surface.

What does splash-resistant mean?

It can help protect the mattress against occasional light spills, but liquid should be removed promptly. It does not provide the complete liquid barrier of a waterproof protector.

What size is a Shorty bed mattress?

There is no universal Shorty size. A common mattress measures approximately 75–76 × 175cm, although both shorter and longer versions are available. Measure your mattress before ordering.

Will a small single mattress protector fit?

A standard small single protector may be too long. Small single mattresses are normally around 190cm long, while Shorty mattresses are generally shorter.

Can I use it over a mattress topper?

Yes. Measure the mattress and topper together, then select a depth suitable for their complete combined measurement.

Can the protector be washed?

Yes. It is machine washable and suitable for tumble drying. Always follow the instructions on the sewn-in care label.
