Bedding for Long Single Beds

Fitted Sheets for Longer Single Beds

Long single beds provide extra legroom without taking up the width of a double bed, but their non-standard length can make fitted sheets difficult to find. Standard UK single mattresses are normally around 190cm long, while long single mattresses can be 200cm, 210cm or longer.

Our long single fitted sheets are designed for these longer mattress sizes, helping provide a secure fit without overstretching the fabric or pulling the corners away from the mattress.

What Size Is a Long Single Bed?

There is no single universal measurement described as a "long single", so checking your mattress dimensions is important.

These descriptions are often used interchangeably by retailers even though the measurements differ. We recommend measuring the mattress itself rather than ordering from the bed name alone.

90 x 200cm Long Single Fitted Sheets

A 90 x 200cm mattress is one of the most common long single sizes and is frequently used on European beds. If this is your exact mattress measurement, see our dedicated 90 x 200cm Fitted Sheets.

210cm and Extra-Long Fitted Sheets

Some beds need even more length. We make fitted sheets for mattresses measuring 210cm long in a range of widths, including long single and larger bed sizes.

See our 210cm Long Fitted Sheets if your mattress is exactly 210cm long.

Long Single Sheets for Adjustable and Electric Beds

Long single mattresses are also common on adjustable and electric beds. Because the mattress moves as the bed is raised and lowered, a correctly sized fitted sheet with sufficient depth is particularly important.

If you have a specialist adjustable bed, see our Adjustable Bed Fitted Sheets for additional sizes and options.

Choosing the Correct Fitted Sheet Depth

Measure from the bottom of the mattress to its highest point. If you sleep with a mattress topper, include the topper in the measurement.

The fitted sheet needs enough fabric to cover the mattress depth and tuck underneath securely. Choosing by mattress depth rather than simply selecting the deepest available sheet usually gives the best result.

Choose Your Fabric

Long single fitted sheets are available in fabrics ranging from practical everyday polycotton to breathable cotton, cosy brushed cotton and luxury high thread count options.

Because many of our sheets are made to order in our Lancashire factory, specialist long-bed sizes do not have to mean compromising on fabric quality or mattress depth.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a long single fitted sheet?

A long single fitted sheet is made for a single-width mattress that is longer than a standard UK single. Common examples include 90 x 200cm and 90 x 210cm mattresses.

Is a long single the same as a 90 x 200cm bed?

Sometimes. 90 x 200cm is one common long single size, but the term can also describe other mattress lengths. Measure your mattress before ordering.

What is an extra-long single bed?

Extra-long single beds are generally longer than the common 90 x 200cm format. They may measure around 210cm or approximately 7ft long, depending on the manufacturer.

Can I buy deep long single fitted sheets?

Yes. Many of our fitted sheets are available with a choice of mattress depths. Include any mattress topper when measuring the depth you require.

Will a long single sheet fit a Twin XL mattress?

Not necessarily. Twin XL and UK or European long-single sizes are similar but not identical. Compare the actual width, length and mattress depth before ordering.
