A standard UK Emperor mattress usually measures 200 x 200cm, approximately 6ft 6in square. It is 20cm wider than a UK super king mattress, so ordinary super king fitted sheets and mattress protectors will not fit correctly.

These differences are important for fitted bedding. A 200 x 200cm fitted sheet will not fit properly around a 215cm-wide mattress.

Choose the correct fitted-sheet depth

Width and length are only part of finding a fitted sheet that stays in place. You also need to measure the mattress depth from its bottom edge to its highest point.

If a topper always remains beneath the sheet, include it in the total measurement. The fitted-sheet pocket should be comfortably deeper than the mattress so that enough fabric can sit beneath it and hold the corners securely.
